<\/p>\nSMCIC Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour<\/p>\n

St. Mary’s Convent Inter College (SMCIC) celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, pride and patriotic spirit. The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Ms. Avantika Manohar, a distinguished alumna of the institution, Head Girl of the 2001-2002 batch, and a respected lawyer practising in the Supreme Court of India.<\/p>\n
The celebrations began with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem and the National Song. The solemn ceremony was attended by the Manager, Rev. Sr. Sumita, Principal Rev. Sr. Lissy, Vice Principal Rev. Sr. Namita, esteemed Chief Guest Ms. Avantika Manohar, teachers and students, who paid tribute to the sacrifices of the nation’s freedom fighters and reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals of unity and nation-building.<\/p>\n
A special assembly themed “Are We Truly Free?” was staged. Thought-provoking presentations highlighted various social evils and challenges that continue to hinder true freedom in contemporary society. It encouraged the audience to reflect on their responsibilities as citizens and work towards a more just and inclusive nation.<\/p>\n
Adding colour and vibrancy to the celebrations was an Inter-House Dance Competition, in which the four houses-Florence Nightingale House, Tagore House, Mary Ward House and Gandhi House presented inspiring performances centred on patriotism and national values. The participants captivated the audience with their creativity, coordination and grace, fostering a deep sense of pride and respect for the country.<\/p>\n
The first prize was bagged by the Green House, followed by the first runner-up and second runner-up, which were won by Blue House and Red House, respectively.<\/p>\n
Rev. Sr.Lissy, the Principal, in her message reminded the students of the sacrifices made during the colonial rule and motivated them to break the shackles of ignorance and despair and emerge as nation builders.<\/p>\n
The programme concluded with an inspiring address by Ms. Avantika Manohar, who urged the students to uphold the values of discipline, integrity and service to the nation. A vote of thanks marked the end of the celebration, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of gratitude towards the nation’s heroes and a strengthened commitment to the progress of India.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
