Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh calls on young designers to take Indian handlooms global
\nNavi Mumbai shrekesh Choubey:- Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh visited the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai, in Kharghar on Saturday and interacted with students on the future of India’s textile and fashion industry.<\/p>\n
Singh was accompanied by Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Dr. M. Beena, and Textile Commissioner, Vrinda Manohar Desai. During the interaction, the Minister urged students to contribute to job creation, increase exports and foreign exchange earnings, and showcase India’s rich textile and handloom heritage to global markets. He also emphasized the potential of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and 3D printing to transform the fashion and textile industries. He encouraged students to combine creativity and innovation with an understanding of business and industry needs to become globally competitive.<\/p>\n
NIFT Mumbai Director, Prof. Dr. Ajit Kumar Khare said that direct interaction between students and government leaders gives young designers a better understanding of industry trends, government policies, and emerging opportunities.
