\nPatriotism ought to be completely free from the confines of politics, social agendas and religious perspectives. Observing the transitions in democratic systems worldwide today, love for the country, loyalty, national pride and the preservation of human values \u200b\u200bhave become crucial. It is my belief that only when the patriotism of the common people is liberated from these three frameworks can it truly assume its pure and all-encompassing form.<\/p>\n

Patriotism does not mean supporting a specific political party or leader. Political manifestos and leaders’ promises may change, but the nation’s interest is enduring and must be safeguarded. A true patriot has every right to criticize a government’s flawed policies and there is nothing wrong with doing so. After all, patriotism untainted by politics empowers citizens to think objectively about the nation’s progress.
\nIf patriotism becomes politicized, those in power might exploit it for self-interest or to label opponents as ‘anti-nationals.’ That is precisely why patriotism should remain free from political ideologies.<\/p>\n

The patriotism of the people should also be free from social agendas, caste, creed and religion. In the era of globalization, no country belongs solely to a specific social segment, caste, religion, or class. True equality\u2014which fosters respect for the nation\u2014lies in ensuring equal justice and dignity for every segment of society. If the mindset of citizens is tainted by prejudices regarding social dynamics, it fosters internal discrimination, which is detrimental to national integration. True patriotism is rooted in the ideals of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family) and the principle that all citizens are equal. When patriotism transcends narrow social confines, it plays a vital role in fostering unity amidst the country’s diversity.<\/p>\n

The spirit of secularism\u2014freedom from religious constraints\u2014is crucial for the nation’s cohesion. Linking patriotism to any single religion is incorrect, as the nation is composed of citizens belonging to all faiths. Furthermore, allegiance to the constitutional framework, along with a commitment to equality and humanity, should constitute the true essence of patriotism. It has been proven that when national pride and patriotism are free from religious bias, they help establish peace and harmony rather than spreading religious fanaticism.<\/p>\n

Patriotism transforms into a noble love for the nation only when it is free from restrictive bonds. Adhering to the governance framework, fulfilling one’s duties, paying taxes, obeying the law, contributing to development, striving for environmental protection and preserving public property are hallmarks of exemplary patriotism. Equally, it is the duty of patriots to work towards the well-being and development of the most marginalized sections of society and to sincerely address and rectify flaws in the development process.<\/p>\n

In essence, patriotism should not be held captive by any specific ideology or political manifesto. It should be a form of pure dedication and gratitude, arising spontaneously from the heart of every citizen and driving them to strive for the nation’s progress.<\/p>\n

In today’s sensitive global geopolitical climate, the citizens of India must unite and work wholeheartedly to realize the dream of a developed, powerful and self-reliant India. Only then will India stand firmly on its own feet across every sector. Remember, this is a dream shared by all Indians and the Government of India, reflecting the hopes, aspirations and hard work of every Indian citizen.<\/p>\n
