Chicken and Mutton Shops on Footpaths Removed in Dombivli’s ‘H’ Ward
Mumbai shrekesh Choubey:- Dombivli West ‘H’ War

On Friday, the ‘H’ Ward’s anti-encroachment and hawker-removal team removed illegally set-up chicken and mutton shops located on footpaths and street corners. These shops, situated on the footpaths, were causing difficulties for pedestrians. The administration took this action following complaints from citizens.
In the ‘H’ Ward area of Dombivli West—specifically in localities such as Garibachapada, Navapada, Mahatma Phule Road, Retibandar, Umesh Nagar, Subhash Road, and Ganesh Nagar—vendors had erected structures to sell chicken and mutton, thereby obstructing footpaths and street corners. These shops, operating from stalls and unauthorized units, were causing inconvenience to residents of nearby housing societies and to pedestrians.
The ‘H’ Ward office had previously received numerous complaints regarding these illegal chicken and mutton shops. Taking cognizance of these complaints, ‘H’ Ward Assistant Commissioner Vijay Bhoir, assisted by the heads of the hawker-removal and anti-encroachment teams, carried out the removal operation on Friday. The action targeted shops along Sant Tukaram Maharaj Road and Retibandar Road, as well as those near Garibachapada, Umesh Nagar, and Shri Sai Ashish Society. Local residents expressed satisfaction with this move. For several months, handcarts selling ice cream, vegetables, vada-pav, and Chinese food have been set up after 4 PM at Kustagir Patil Chowk—near the Hanuman Temple in the Garibachapada area of Dombivli West—obstructing both the road and the footpath. This often leads to overcrowding and traffic jams at the junction in the evenings. People visiting stalls to buy Chinese food or vada-pav park their vehicles right on the road.
